Doctor with Defibrillator
MODEL RELEASED. Disposable defibrillatorelectrodes held by a hospital doctor. Thisequipment is used on patients who are having aheart attack (myocardial infarction). When thisoccurs, the heartandamp;apos;s normal rhythm is disturbed andthe heart can no longer pump blood around thebody. This causes a loss of blood flow and a stateof unconsciousness, which can prove fatal, unlessthe heartandamp;apos;s rhythm can be restored. The metalplates on the defibrillator are placed on apatientandamp;apos;s chest and an electric current passedthrough them. This may shock the heart intobeating in a normal manner.
